Voter FAQ
Can I vote absentee in this Year's Special Elections?
YES! You can ALWAYS vote absentee ballot in ANY Georgia election. You don't need a reason to do so, if that's how you want to vote, you're free to do that. Absentee ballot voting is a safe and secure way to vote.
However, because the 2025 elections are "special elections", there is a difference in absentee voting THIS YEAR. Normally, if you're 65 or older, or are going to be overseas, you can fill out ONE absentee request, check the appropriate box on Line 12, and you get ballots sent to you for the rest of the year.
That DOES NOT HAPPEN in special elections! This year, you'll have to fill out an absentee request form for EACH election (primary on June 17th, primary runoff on July 15th (if needed), and general election on November 4th.)
You can request your absentee ballot for the June primary NOW You can complete and submit it directly to the Sec of State's office by completing the online application, OR you can print a copy, fill it out (remember you MUST fill out box 9 on the back!), and then send it in or hand deliver it to our local election office (71 Case Avenue, Trenton).
You can request one for the primary runoff starting on May 1st. You can request one for the general election on August 18th. For primary election requests, remember to check DEMOCRATIC.
Does voting in one Party's primary commit me to voting for that Party for the rest of the year?
NO! Georgia has OPEN PRIMARIES, people are free to pick whichever party's primary ballot they wish to vote on. Doing this in no way commits you to voting for a candidate or party the remainder of the year. You're free to vote however you want in each and every election.
