US House of Representatives (CD-14)
Shawn Harris (D)
The Dade County Democratic Committee has endorsed candidate Shawn Harris in the upcoming 2026 Special Election to complete Marjorie Taylor Greene’s term.
Shawn Harris has been both a servant and a leader for his country for four decades, working his way up through the ranks of the US Marines and US Army, retiring as a Brigadier General to Polk County to be a cattle farmer.
Answering the call of some of his fellow farmers and neighbors, Shawn committed to public service once again by offering himself up for his fellow NW Georgia citizens to be their Representative in Congress
Shawn values hard work over self-promotion, cooperation over confrontation, constituent service over self-service, and character over ego. In short, Shawn is everything our outgoing Representative hasn’t been, and has spent a career working with administrations of both parties.
Shawn will get things done for the people of NW Georgia! And we’ll need to vote for him MULTIPLE TIMES this year! The special election will be announced soon, the regularly scheduled primary is in May, and the general election in November.
You can review Shawn’s plans for NW Georgia by visiting his website. Donate to Shawn’s campaign through his ActBlue page.
Numerous shareable videos of Shawn can be found on our Harris playlist. Among them is our Chair’s latest update on the state of the Congressional races.
An additional note on the March 10th special election: Two other candidates on the 22-person ballot are listed as “Democrats.” Our Committee does not accept that these two candidates are, in fact, Democrats.
One candidate, on his website, states that he is an independent and is only running as a Democrat out of convenience to avoid petitioning. First, he did not have to petition for this special election, and second, since when is doing outreach to voters a burden for a serious candidate?
The second candidate in question is a Republican. On his social media, you will find numerous references to Republicans he has recently supported, and is currently supporting, including Buddy Carter for US Senate against Jon Ossoff. He voted in the Republican primary for PSC last year. He has not shown any sign of being affiliated even loosely with the Democratic Party. Our Committee believes this person to be a “plant” designed to shave a small number of votes off Shawn Harris’s total, making it harder for him to win a majority.
We will not be highlighting either candidate, nor stating their names here on our site, nor on our social media. Neither will we post anything from either candidate on any of our platforms.
There is only ONE Democrat running in the special election, Shawn Harris.
