Public Service Commissioner D-3

The Dade County Democratic Committee has endorsed Democratic incumbent Peter Hubbard in the upcoming 2026 primary for Public Service Commission, District 3. District 3 is made up by the Metro counties of Clayton, Dekalb, and Fulton, although the entire state votes on all District Commissioners. Peter was the only Democratic candidate to qualify for the primary, so he will be our Party’s nominee on the November ballot.

Peter won the seat last November. But because the Public Service Commission map was challenged in court for years, PSC elections were actually put on hold until that challenge was completed.

Peter won a 1-year term in November of 2025, and this year, he will go for a full 6-year term as Commissioner. Peter’s background in energy matters is extensive; he’s been on both the business and regulatory side of the aisle, and he heads a non-profit dedicated to making renewable energy affordable and available for the entire state. He will likely face his November 2025 opponent, Fitz Johnson, again in November of this year. Johnson is one of two Republicans in that primary in May.
